Our Mission

The dermovitalia mission is to be a sustainable outdoor lifestyle brand dedicated to liberating women in the outdoors through awareness, resources, and the creation of a women’s outdoor community. dermovitalia harmonizes fashion with utility to create practical apparel for women.

Humble Beginnings

Starting in a living room and broom closet, we launched in 2016 under the name The Parks Apparel. As The Parks Apparel, we made lifestyle clothing for women and men, in addition to our ever-popular, nature-inspired accessories.

Philanthropy

Giving back has always been a defining part of who we are. For three years, we made it our mission to donate proceeds to conservation programs. We supported projects in National Parks, and partnered with Global Wildlife Conservation to help protect land in Guatemala.

Problems in the Industry

Over time, we realized two things:

1) Women are incredibly underrepresented in the outdoors, both in fashion and especially in outdoor activities. 

2) Multiple outdoor lifestyle brands have come out in the past few years and unfortunately many of them give back very little - or worse, claim to give back and do not at all. Not to mention most of these brands are for men or are unisex catered to mens cuts and designs.

The Data

We conducted our own survey, and it was revealed that:

of our respondents volunteered the opinion that empowering women to go outdoors is important.

45%

brought up the fact that gender inequalities exist in the outdoors.

 

There is a strong demand for more outdoor women role models and storytelling.

REI conducted their own national study and found that:

Of all women surveyed believe the outdoors positively affects mental health, physical health, happiness, and overall well-being

63%

Of women said they could not think of an outdoor female role model.

6 in 10

Women say that men's interest in outdoor activities are taken more seriously than women's.

In 2019, we became

We’re increasing our positive impact by aligning our business and our philanthropy with our vision for the outdoors, and embarking on a journey to make our products more sustainable.

 

From here on out, our clothes are exclusively designed for women, by women.

 

We're developing a nonprofit, The Women's Explorer Alliance, to help women and girls from all backgrounds reach their outdoor dreams by providing fresh storytelling, educational and financial resources, and a supportive community.
